Senses Mythologies

The Mythology Series reflects on global mythologies, legends and folklore. The usage of the primary and secondary colours is linked to the stories the individual pieces are related to. The iconography, the images from the stories, were used to create the backgrounds, some quite direct as in the red hand where I imprinted my own hand into the paint, others more abstract. The works let the viewer experience stories that have a different cultural origins with similar meanings. Or stories that use the same metaphors but have different meanings. All over the world we find these stories that seem to have the similar meanings. Once we were one tribe of people that spread across the world and we took those stories with us. The stories evolved and changed in form, but not so much in meaning.

These images are 30×30 cm canvas on board painted in primary and secondary colours. The motif is ton-sur-ton and depicts an abstraction a reference or feeling connected to the subject. The sense is 3D printed in white PLA and mounted on the canvas. Explore mythology in contemporary art form.

Each of these objects have an ‘explainer video’ telling about the myths associated with the artwork. See the playlist on YouTube of all available videos about: Senses Mythologies Playlist
