Description

On image 8 of the Istanbul Revisit series we are still on Alemar Caddesi. Images 7, 8 and 9 are closely related and share multiple visual markers. Here we are on our way to Gühlhane Park (Image 9).  Istanbul28Y08 Zeynep Sultan Camii. The remarkable tree from Image 7  is on the right and a sliver of the rainbow gate of 1996 is visible on the right edge. The dome of the Zeynep Sultan mosque is floating in the image, clearly visible in 1996 it is now engulfed in trees and construction fences. The pedestrians have taken over this busy street in 2024, the two-way street has been blocked for regular cars. The 1996 image has been slightly updated/altered to fit the 2024 image.
