A boy who has noticed the camera and decided to do something about it, standing straighter, making a face, performing the version of himself he wants recorded. People in Istanbul in 1996 were direct about the camera: they wanted to be in the photograph, they wanted to know what you were doing, they wanted to be seen.

After the photo he nodded, turned around and went on his way, not interested in the result. Knowing his picture was taken was enough.
