Topkapi South side
The southern approach to the palace, the walls seen from below, the scale of the Ottoman complex becoming apparent as the route closes in on its destination. As with the fountain in front of it the gate was in need of restore but even in that state the magnificence of it was overwhelming.

Spoiler alert: I revisited Istanbul in 2024 and feel Topkapi gate in the state it was back then felt more genuine than it does today.
