Lisbon, a walk along the historic tramline Carreira 28

Tram 28 in Lisbon is one of the main tramlines that has been used for many years by locals as their main way of transport through the city. Nowadays it’s also a very popular tourist attraction that takes you on a journey through some of the most historic and picturesque neighbourhoods in the city. The historic tramline Carreira 28 traditionally starts from the hilltop district of Graça, the tram winds its way through narrow cobblestone streets, steep hills, and past colourful buildings and local markets.

In this photo series I walked the reversed the route of Tram 28, starting from the final stop in Parezes and making pictures along the way back to Praça Martim Moniz. As we make our way back through the neighbourhoods of Alfama, Baixa, and Chiado, you’ll get a chance to see Lisbon from a different angle and appreciate the sights and sounds of this vibrant city while encountering the bright yellow and white cars of the tram.
