Description
This artwork is part of the Senses Myth Series that depicts myths from round the world with similar symbolism and combines them with one of the 6 senses. Coyolxauhqui, the Aztec moon goddess, led her siblings to slay their mother but was defeated and torn apart by her brother, the sun god Huitzilopochtli. Her dismembered body became the moon, scattered and broken like its phases. Her pale silver light is a reminder of both vengeance and cosmic balance. The violence in the story translates into the swirling on the moon surface in the background. Original artwork specifications- Canvas on board
